Spraying on a coating of oil really helps, and the waffle maker I have is already pretty non-stick. I did it by the sink, so just let the cheese & sauce ooze strategically there to be scraped up. Wasn’t that bad! Read more

Heh, but a PRO smartphone. Honestly, both of these devices promise more than they can deliver: the perfect balance between a tablet and a laptop. One succeeds more as a tablet, the other more as a laptop—and it’s all because of the OS (and the keyboard accessory). When Apple releases the OS X version, we’ll have lots… Read more
I LOVE Corel Painter. It’s why I keep buying tablet PCs. Read more
I’m loving the Surface Book as both a laptop and, docked, as my main computer connected to a mechanical keyboard and larger monitor. The keyboard is awesome, although I wish it had at least another USB port. Read more
Perhaps they’re using the iPad Pro to test response for an OS X version, which would be harder to create. The thing that strikes me about Microsoft is it has long been interested in pen computing and incorporating that in the OS—since Windows XP (or perhaps earlier). I forgot to mention this in the review, but the… Read more
I dislike non-user-replaceable batteries in general. When the battery dies you have to buy a new device or pay someone to replace the battery. But by the time that happens with the Apple Pencil, there’ll probably be an iPad Pro 2 or 3 in the works, so maybe it’s a moot point. Read more

Can’t remember the name of it, but there’s an app that’s supposed to be really good at mirroring the Mac. While not ideal, you could use the iPad so a wacom-like tablet for OS X. Read more
Thanks for the correction. That's good to know about the Pencil Read more
As mentioned above, I’m using the Surface Book as my main laptop. I like its larger 13.5" screen, the better keyboard (only one additional USB port, though), slightly longer battery life (1 hour more), as well as the option to have a discrete graphics card. It’s about $600 more than the Surface Pro 4, though, so a… Read more
Heh, maybe. Hopefully it’ll be better than the debates, where they answer the question they want to answer rather than the actual question. Read more
I understand. Jezebel had a good post on how people just following this food fad are actually making things worse for everyone who has Celiac, people for whom avoiding gluten is medically necessary. Others stop taking it seriously because it seems like just a fad (as witnessed by a lot of these comments). Read more
My daughter is allergic to peanuts, treenuts, soy, and eggs. Allergic also to dog and cat dander, certain types of weeds, and, of course, dust mites (but I think we’re all allergic to dust). Her allergist says her sensitivity, as based on blood tests, is off the charts. So absolutely there are people who suffer from a… Read more

I think we all dislike dealing with coins these days. Thanks for bringing up the penny challenge. It’s kind of like the 52-week $1 more a week challenge, which ends up being about $1,400 at the end of the year. A great way to save up for holiday gifts! Read more
That sounds like a great strategy. I also try to order things I can’t or won’t want to make myself at home. As for entrees, more often than not they’re lunch (or breakfast!) the next day :) Read more

From my experience, the seller and the buyer (and the banks) coordinate on the closing date. If the seller needs or wants to close in a short timeframe or by a certain date, you’ll know about it. Read more
