Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season is fast approaching, which for many people means hectic schedules and the potential for leaving the oven on while running about. Use rubber bands as oven reminders.

Home and technology blog Unplggd highlights a clever and simple trick for reminding yourself if the oven is on or something is simmering away on the stove, assign rubber bands to the stove knobs and oven switch.
Then the next time you go to cook and turn on your stove or oven knobs, slide the rubber band off first and wear it around your wrist. When you're done and you've turned the oven off safely, wrap the 'band back around the knob.
When you bolt out the door with a rubber band or two around your wrist you'll know instantly that you left the oven on.
