Microsoft has been steadily releasing beta previews of their upcoming Creators Update for Windows 10 which is scheduled to arrive this spring, but they’ve just confirmed that there is indeed another significant update planned for later this year. That and more in today’s news.
- If you’ve been closely following the development if Windows 10 then the news isn’t that big of a surprise; Microsoft previously mentioned to some IT professionals that two Windows 10 updates were being planned for 2017. That news has been reasserted today in a presentation made at their Ignite conference, which depicted a rough timetable that included another Windows 10 update before the end of the year. - Firefox has a few new features that you can try through their ‘Test Pilot’ program. SnoozeTabs lets you hide a tab and assign it a time to reappear so that you can put off reading something until tomorrow, for example. And Pulse lets you rate browser features so that Firefox engineers know what you’d like them to improve. - Blizzard is ending support for Windows XP and Vista. Believe it or not, around 10 percent of users are still running the old versions of Windows; they will, unfortunately, no longer receive updates for games like the original World of Warcraft beginning later this year. [Ars Technica]
- Verizon will be testing 5G wireless technology in 11 cities this year. There actually isn’t set standards for 5G yet, which will offer faster internet speeds in cities like Dallas and Sacramento, but all the major providers agree that it is one more G. [The Verge]
