/:16 Inductive charging is a pretty convenient way to charge your phone, but kits for less popular devices are hard to come by. Here's how to hack your phone to charge wirelessly, using another phone's kit.
Many popular devices, like the iPhone, have third party inductive charging kits available that just use a special case paired with a charging pad. Some devices, however, like DIY hacker Derek's HTC HD2, do not. Taking matters into his own hands, Derek took apart a Palm Pre Touchstone inductive charging kit and hacked it onto his HD2, letting him charge it wirelessly by placing it on the dock.
All he needed were a few wires and a case to protect the back of the phone (since the HD2's metal backplate interfered with the charging signal). Best of all is that this hack probably won't void your warranty, either—voided warranties have never stopped us before (in fact, they're kind of a hobby of ours), but keeping it valid is always a plus in our book. Check out the video above for a closer look.
