When they rolled out Google Instant earlier this month, Google had already included several great shortcuts that sped up your queries. Today they're adding new navigation shortcuts for moving through search results after you've finished your query.
Watch the video above for a peek at the new shortcuts. Basically, after you've hit Enter to execute a query, you can navigate the results with the arrow keys and open a selected result by pressing Enter. It's not perfect—we'd still prefer using the j/k keyboard shortcuts that webapps like Gmail, Google Reader, and even Twitter have ingrained in us so we don't have to leave the home row, but they're not bad. (Presumably they're not using j/k because the focus never actually leaves the search box, so you can tweak the search at any time by simply typing more text. I get their reasoning, but I'd still rather have the option to hit j/k to navigate results and then hit the common '/' shortcut to re-focus search.)
