About the Tips Box: Every day we receive boatloads of great reader tips in our inbox, but for various reasons—maybe they're a bit too niche, maybe we couldn't find a good way to present it, or maybe we just couldn't fit it in—the tip didn't make the front page. From the Tips Box is where we round up some of our favorites for your buffet-style consumption. Got a tip of your own to share? Zoom Out to Make Redesigned Lifehacker Pages Fit on Smaller Screens
Juan lets us know one way to make the Gawker redesign more netbook-friendly:
If you're having trouble adjusting to the new layout, here's what worked for me... A little Ctrl-[minus]-[minus] action to decrease the overall page size by two levels.
This is actually a good idea any web page that doesn't fit on your netbook's screen (which is a lot of them). Oddly enough Lifehacker is one of the few sites that fits perfectly on my netbook screen, but those with older netbooks might need to zoom out for their lower-resolution screens.
Use Linksys' Router UI Emulators to Help Your Friends Troubleshoot
Shkm lets us know an easy way to help friends and family members troublehshoot their router:

Grab USPS Moving Kits for Free Home Improvement Coupons

Ehed shares a tip for those undertaking home improvement projects:
Enroute to home depot today, I remembered the great coupons I got the last time I moved in the USPS moving kit. So I stopped by a post office and asked for one and, lo and behold, found a nice 15% off coupon inside. It saved me a bunch of money on my new floor purchase.
You should just be able to pick these up at the counter of your Post Office. Coupons vary from package to package, but often include a coupon for something like Lowe's or the Home Depot. You can also get some of these online, just by heading to the "moving" section of the store's web site.
Use Best Buy's Upgrade Checker for Super-Simple Cellphone Upgrades
Skylerb shares a great alternative to navigating your carrier's web site when checking to see if you have a phone upgrade available:
Mobile carriers make it hard to find out when your contract is up, but for Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T, you can do a quick check through Best Buy to find the exact date you're eligible for upgrade and when your contract expires.
