If the smooth backs of your remote controls lend themselves to your remotes sliding off the couch, into the cushions, and out of your reach, flip them over and use the rubber buttons as a non-slip "mat" to keep them stationary.
Lifehacker reader FixMaster2K offers a simple tip on keeping your remotes from sliding away and ending up buried in the couch cushions:
While watching TV on the couch or your favorite chair, place the remote button side down to keep it from sliding into the cracks of the chair. The rubber buttons grip the fabric of the chair much better than the slick plastic of the remote body. I have used this trick for years, and I save myself a lot of time searching for remotes.
In the photo above my Snapstream HTPC remote is clinging to the back of my couch by nothing but the friction of its buttons. While larger remotes didn't pass the Spider Man test all of them stayed put on the cushions when inverted, rubber buttons facing down.
