DIY Plank Desk as Cable Hider Redux

Earlier this year we highlighted a neat desk that featured a picnic-table-like surface perfect for threading cables through. Today we're back to showcase a reader desk modeled after the design with a focus on compact cable wrangling.

In August we featured the room and workspace of English student and Lifehacker reader Lewis Pratt. Shortly after that we shared the DeskWoodWires cable-clutter banishing desk.

Andrew modified the design, bought around $30 worth of lumber, and built his own—seen in the screenshot above. All cable clutter is hidden away by routing the cables through the slats. Only the minimal amount of cable necessary for the device—such as a phone dock—is visible above the desk. He shared his design and build guide as an Instructables guide, available at the link below, so other readers could build their own plank desk.

If you have a workspace of your own to show off, throw the pictures on your Flickr account and add it to the Lifehacker Workspace Show and Tell Pool. Include some details about your setup and why it works for you, and you just might see it featured on the front page of Lifehacker.
