The process is actually remarkably simple—just open up an image in Photoshop, convert it to greyscale, and adjust the contrast and threshold until it's just a straight black-and-white image. From that, you can print out a version large enough for any pumpkin, and use your newly-gained carving skills to create a jack-o-lantern to remember.
