Build a $3.50 DIY Micro TV-B-Gone

If you've checked out some of the DIY TV-B-Gone clones floating around the internet but written them off as too bulky, you'll want to check out this tiny and cheap version.

Using $3.50 worth of parts Instructables user Dark Sponge built a DIY TV-B-Gone clone that's smaller than a US quarter. A click of the tiny button sends out hundreds of TV shut off codes through the IR diodes, shutting down any television within range.

It's worth noting that the programming board isn't included in the cost of the parts above, but they're super cheap to set up and you'll have one for your next microprocessor-based project. If all of that sounds like too much work but you're intrigued by the idea of a tiny TV-slaying device, the commercial version is available here.

Have a fun, electronics-based, project to share? Let's hear about it in the comments.
