We covered this topic back in 2008, but let's face it: A lot has changed since then—like the release of Windows 7 as well as a few versions of Mac OS X and Ubuntu.
Everyone has different aims when they customize their desktop—some want to radically change the look or window manager, while others seek to add functionality. Whatever your aim, let us know about your favorite software for getting the look or feature you are going for.
