Mindmapping tools are usually all business and don't bring much fun to the creative process of idea generation. BBC Scotland takes a different approach and turns mindmapping into a game.
BBC Pinball actually offers a set of four tools, only the first being a mindmapper (called Dot Dash). The set also includes Drop Zone, designed to help you quickly sort ideas and make choices, Wild Reels, a tool that randomly combines three ideas to provide new ways to think about them, and Snap Shot, a simple image manipulator that lets you play with photos to see them in a different way. How to use these tools isn't necessarily obvious just by looking at them. Check out our video, above, for a quick run-through of each tool. Alternatively, the official instructions for each tool are available at the links below:
- How to Use Dot Dash - Mindmapping
- How to Use Drop Zone - Idea Sorting
- How to Use Wild Reels - Idea Combiner
- How to Use Snap Shot - Image Manipulation
While it might not be the most feature-rich tool for managing your ideas, BBC Pinball is a good way to take the pressure off the whole process by having some fun.
