As far as I know, most 3D printers actually print using one type of material. However you might be able to use the layer of plastic to block the etching chemicals, then proceed as the second part of the process goes. Would be an interesting use of a 3D printer! Read more

PPTP is fine for basic encryption; although there are known weaknesses in the encryption method (MPPE) there are no known full exploits. So although it is "less" secure than IPSec it still gets the job done and is the easiest to set up. Read more

@chucklebuck: I would just monitor CPU usage. If you see it stuck at 100% a lot then that certainly is a bottleneck. However if it seems to be dragging and CPU usage is low, it could be reading/writing data to the HDD and that could be the bottleneck. Read more

@attozes: You would certainly see some improvement over a 7200RPM drive in your laptop. I just replaced a 10000RPM Raptor drive in my desktop with an SSD drive and while the speed change isn't incredible it is definitely noticeable on startup. Read more
