I didn't notice that, but that's awesome. Thanks for sharing! Read more
Looks like you've got a few alternative options. Read more
I'm sure that's the case a lot of the time, as all people are replaceable, but I've known bosses to provide raises to people solely because they didn't want to risk them leaving. I completely agree that the business can pretty much always move on without a star employee, but there are absolutely instances in which a… Read more
Nothing is for everyone. I make my arguments in the app directory post so you can check that out if you're curious about its advantages. I think $20 is too much, too, but it is an excellent VNC client. At $10 I think it's worthwhile. But it's one of those things that's hard to justify on paper. It provides a much… Read more

That would be an interesting twist! :) Read more
It really isn't. They haven't changed their DRM aside from making it slightly more lenient than it is in CS6. This is about locking people into their platform for as long as possible. Read more
I don't think there are any great alternatives on Windows, but I sure hope they're coming now that Adobe's gone and done this. Read more
I'm not sure. Perhaps they make you provide proof of a graduation date so you have to prove you're a student again later. My guess is that Adobe won't crack down on this too much because it'd be better to keep the customer than risk losing them by forcing them to pay almost twice as much as soon as they're no longer… Read more
Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if you got to keep something? I'd love for that to happen too. :) Read more
I would argue Photoshop is nearly peerless, too. Or at least the competition can't hold a candle to what it can do right now. But there are definitely some competitors that could get pretty close in a few years. Read more
I'm signed in and I can't find that pricing anywhere. The "Creative Cloud for Teams" option doesn't seem to require an annual commitment, but I don't know if I'd consider that an alternative. Where are you (or where is your wife) seeing this month-to-month option? Read more
Yes, you can keep CS6 and avoid paying for Creative Cloud. That's what I intend to do. You won't be able to upgrade ever again (so says Adobe), but you get to keep the current version of your software that you paid for and own and Adobe will still support you. Read more
Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't enjoy using Photoshop so much since this announcement. I just get angry with Adobe every time I'm in there. Making the graphic for this post in Photoshop, however, provided some enjoyable irony. :) There are some good alternatives out there. I wish they had the feature set I… Read more
Yeah, I have to agree with Michael here. Adobe wouldn't have put a one year commitment in place if they weren't worried about competition. While there are definitely benefits to Creative Cloud (as mentioned in the post), I think this is mostly a dick move to lock people into their system even more. That said, I… Read more
So you're saying you approve of Adobe's move to eliminate choice? I don't think there's anything wrong with Adobe offering a SaaS option, but there is a lot wrong with forcing everyone to adopt a model that favors the company and not the consumer. If you paid for Photoshop for two years and eventually got to own a… Read more
It's really a shame that people won't be able to do what you're doing in the future. I may need some of the features in later versions some day, but I hope I don't and can stick with CS6 for awhile. I don't want to rent software, and I definitely don't want to sign an annual contract for it. Right now I need… Read more
Yes, only if you update. If you own CS* you can keep using it indefinitely but will never get an update. If you update I'm not sure if you can install CC on the the same computer running CS (but you probably wouldn't want to, anyway). Read more
