Knowing barbershop lingo could help you get the haircut you want, but if you want to motivate your haircutter or stylist, you could mention an important interview or other event you have coming up.

It’s probably best to use this trick when trying out a new barber or hair salon. (Obviously you shouldn’t do it every time, lest your haircutter think you’re constantly unemployed.) And if you decide to return to the same place, keep in mind you might have to answer how your interview went. For that reason, perhaps consider using another event, such as a big date or a family photo shoot, that’s actually going to happen.
